Field opens 0900; Registration, Chrono, and Briefing until 0950; Teams in place 1000; Conflict Begins 1015; lunch rotation starts at 1230; Conflict ends 1800.
It is September 1965 and the 1/7Cavalry is in a heavy fire fight against an unknown but superior numbers of PAVN in unfamiliar terrain located near the la Drang Valley, Vietnam. The 1/7 Cavalry is being inserted at LZ X-Ray and must continue to find, engage, and destroy the PAVN forces they encounter.
Objectives
PAVN forces must defend their positions and maintain control of the small village at the headwaters of a creek feeding the la Drang River. American forces must not be allowed to secure the village or the surrounding terrain.
American forces must secure LZ X-Ray and maintain control of the command site. They must also open LZ Albany near the small village. There are old French artillery pieces from the 1954 conflict scattered through the area and they can be used as points of reference or forward command posts. Use these hard targets to your advantage. The village and all defensible structures near it must be cleared of PAVN in order to establish a forward command center in the Central Highlands of Vietnam later in the year. In the event of a support aircraft being downed, immediate response must be taken to keep the American aviators from becoming KIA.
Respawn
PAVN forces will respawn at a small barn north of the small village. They will observe an optional five minute bleed out and a mandatory five minute respawn.
American forces will respawn at a site near the la Drang River 300 m south of the village and will also observe an optional five minute bleed out but will only have a two minute mandatory respawn. 1/7 Cavalry (Field Marshalls) will pick up fresh troops from respawn and transport them based on the CO’s direction to either LZ X-Ray or LZ Albany.
Details
Teams and respective CO’s will be chosen the day of. American forces will wear RED arm bands and will not be required but preferred to wear olive or jungle camo BDU’s. PAVN forces will have no camo preference. VHF radios are highly recommended and mandatory for CO’s. No radio jamming.
American forces will operate with inferior numbers and limited knowledge of the terrain. Rapid and constant reinforcement along with brilliant leadership will be the only course of action for an American victory. PAVN forces will be allowed to start their defensive planning on the field at 0950 or after the briefing. Please reply to lance@blackstoneairsoft.com with a headcount to aid in planning.
